Welcome to Southwestern State Hospital! Southwestern State Hospital is a publicly owned facility of the State of Georgia and operated by the Department of Human Resources (DHR), Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Addictive Diseases (MHDDAD).
We provide extensive behavioral healthcare services in community and hospital settings. This includes residential mental retardation/developmental disabilities (MRDD) services; inpatient, residential and case management psychiatric services; and residential care for dual-diagnosed persons with mental illness and substance abuse. We primarily serve residents of the 24 counties of Southwest Georgia, with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or chemical dependency. Services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to appropriate persons in the catchment area.
